my brother just graduated from northwest lima ohio tech(hi-performance automotive). his teachers all said,"shell, because they use a higher grade than the others, and thats why they charge a few cents more per grade of fuel. true, i hope so, because thats what i normally run.

So what is the final answer and why?  Also are we talking RON or MON octane rating.  When I am hanging out with fellas on the weekend I want to tell them what and why they need to use a specific rating.

ron or mon octane rating? this is getting over my head. i recently found out from an aged mechanic that there are only 4 real fuel distributors, the different gas stations add there own addittives to make it what it is (different from each other). some are cleaner than others, better, ect. when i first asked about gas in general i had no clue that i would get specific info back yet alot of opinions(nothing set in stone), but like brock and company said," if one station does'nt work for you try another".

stock motor 87 = more power 11-1.  And more octane for higher compression motors

Fellas,

help me put here. Manfacturers produce a product. They attach a label that says  90 octane or higher to prevent engine damage. What method did they use to arrive at the conclusion 90 octane or higher.

For those of you who's recommendation is to use 87 explain to me what you used to arrive to this conclusion.

I have read high compression needs high octane. is a ZX14 high compression?  I see a turbo system for the 14,all the 1000's and the 1300 this leads me to believe they are low compression. i was told high compresssion with turbo = blown heads.

The RON and MON ratings are more stuff that gets thrown around.

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING but I hear 87 octane rating in America is like 90 in some European or Asian counntries.

Can we clear this stuff up without discussing how cool our bikes are.

Hi.

I believe I would be more widely known as 'kz2zx'.

I am not the person on this board who has posted as 'KZ2ZX'.

I would appreciate it greatly if you would change your name.

I sell online under this username, and I am known in the roadracing community. Your username is at best confusing. I don't know why you would have chosen it, but please don't trade on my name.

Admin of the board, a quick Google - which is how I found this - would show this is true. Admin of the board, I am a board Admin also, and several other admins will know me. Email me if you would like a reference.

Thank you,

kz2zx
