Hey guys, look here: http://www.dragbike.com/dbnews/templates/news_template.asp?articleid=1858&zoneid=2 The boys at Kawasaki are SERIOUS about taking on the Busa! It's a war they plan to fight for at least the next several years from what I can tell. In a nutshell: The ZX-14 is the nicest/fastest big bike I have ever ridden. Keep watching dragbike.com for details as we get a chance to post them. Brock |

Seems to me that it's not all that fast. Ricky G runs 9.92 and Ryan Schnitz runs 9.65. We had a guy at the local track with a stock busa with a strap was running 9.80's at 2600' in the heat. He's not even a pro rider. I mean this 14 is supposed to be making 160's at the rear tire. My busa makes that with a pipe and power commander and a motor that's been around for 7 years.
Seems if Kawasaki was really serious they would have come with more. What would Suzuki have to do. Maybe a bigger cam and they're right back on top. And a motor with the block connected to the top cases. Probably can only go a couple mm over stock with the bore. There goes the aftermarket. Who is going to build that unless Kawasaki is throwing alot of money at them. Seems to me Kawasaki promised a tank and came out with a pellet gun. |

Rosco I belive the problem with the zx14 is its torque is to high it will never beat a stock for stock a busa because it has too much torque and is still to tall to keep the front end down. I belive the reason they did the test in Vagas was in hope that the elevation would lower the powere enough so these guys could get some decent stock numbers out of the bike. All of the normal testers have gotten better times on a stock busa than they did on the zx14. |

Please remember this testing was: stock height with no front end strap, mirrors on, full tank of pump gas…exactly how they would be rolled off of the showroom floor. Most decent riders on a Busa with this exact setup would be lucky to run 10.30’s at 3500ft. I would have run 9.70’s with a strap NO PROBLEM. I also expect to run 9.20’s on the Zx-14 with a set-up like we take to our local track on a Busa. I now run mid 9.40’s since I am no longer a “smaller” rider. I’m not saying it is the greatest bike ever…..I’m saying it is no joke. I will tell you this also…. There will be more guys who can’t ride a lick running nines than ever AND good riders with a pipe arm and air shifter running EIGHTS..... Brock

Brock do you know anyone that can run Eights on a stock piped arm and air shifter on a busa. I think Larry Laye did it.
