What kind of motorcycle do you have?

What size is the engine?

How long is the bike?

What is your weight?

Do you have a turbo?

Do you have nitros?

We would love to help, but you will have to be more specific.

Thanks

Do you spray it in the throttle?

What kind of clutch?

Do you have a lock up?

Do you have an air shifter?

What kind of tire do you run?

What mph did you run in the past?

What rpm were you at when you went through the traps?

Go through the traps in 5th on the spray.

You have to be able to ride the bike....if it is acting up, you will never see good et's.

Good et's are based on the amount of average horsepower applied to the track....if you lift due to wheelies or spin, you won't ET... or MPH!

If your bike is spinning up top, you need a better rear shock and/or lower gearing.

SpyBusa…I don’t think your getting it…..

There is no MAGIC gear ratio! Look at all of your variables…anyone who throws out a solid number to you would be A fool!!

I can’t even tell you the gear ratio on my Bandit!
No kidding…..I’d have to count the teeth or knock the dust off of my notes. (I grind the numbers off of my sprockets to prevent prying eyes from benefiting from my hard work. Also, when someone brazenly asks my gearing…..I can tell them I don’t know without being untruthful!!)

THE GEAR RATIO DOESN’T MATTER….. The sprocket combination on my Bandit is the one which works the best for all of MY variables….riding skill and size/power level/chassis and suspension configuration/ clutch adjustment……the list goes on forever. What is on there has been proven to work and that is all that counts.

Starting with completely stock bikes (our StreetSmart Hayabusa product line, for example)….we are all on the same page. I can give solid definite answers because we all have identical bikes.

Once you move into the custom realm….you must figure it out yourself…I can only direct you.

Good Luck!

Brock

BOSSMAN,

You should have our Ultra Clutch Mod (S13-CM-ULTRA) and Clutch Cushion Kit (S13-CCK-02).

The Clutch Cushion has a lever cam for the clutch lever with 2 extra positions, you need this with the cushion or extra spring pressure or you will have clutch creep.

Also need to take into account where your rear axle ends up.

A slight gain from gearing COULD hurt your overall performance if the axle is further foward.........................nothing is simple in this silly game of drag racing

gear bike to cross 1/4 mile finish line in 4th gear right before the rev limiter, make a few passes to see what gear you are in when crossing line, if you are shifting into 5th before finish line then go down in the rear, way before red line in 4th go up in the rear.

just wondering a few things. i have an 03 GSXR 1k and i have a 1070 motor going in it. im wondering what gearing combo to go with. im 145 suited, strapped, stretched +6, no nitrous. i was told that 16/44 would be the best combo for me, but im just wanting to make sure. the next thing i was wondering is if i should go longer, and if so how long. any info would help.

16/43 or 16/44 would be a good start, gear for crossing 1/4 mile finish line in top of 5th.

EJ...........why should the OP gear to cross in 4th and the next poster 5th? Just wondering since I have two different sprockets that produce both of these results.

Top of 4th for stock wheelbase, top of 5th for extended wheelbase and nitrous.

I just purchased a new 2009 suzuki gsxr1000. Parts mounted on: Brocks CT series single can full titanium exhaust, PC-V, X-TRE, BMC air filter. My question, which gearing will i need for best ET? Stock wheelbase, lowered front and rear, stock tires.

Lots of variables go into gearing, there is no magic set up.  I would start by going one tooth down in the front and then test and tune to see what you will need to do in the back.  As a rule of thumb with stock wheelbase you will want to cross the finish line in the quarter mile at the top of fourth gear just before you hit the rev limiter.

That might be a little much on a stock wheelbase bike, you might end up fighting a lot of wheelies that way, I would just do the front and then go from there.

There is alot of ?'s on what gearing to use everyone needs to understand that the only way to find out is trying different gearings just thinking about the front and rear sprocket isn't going to get you anywhere those are just a start you still have all the gears in your transmission that could make a difference on top of all that the power you are producing the length of the bike how well you are hooking up off the line how well you run through your gear going down the line the best and only way to find out what to use it take it to the track run what you have if your doing doing everything right see what you get then change your gear run again see if your time is better or worse and just keep playing with it...this is a world where you try stuff out to see if it will work with what you have and if not try something else until it does work
